Changes as a result of idustrialisation in Western naions:
-use of tools and machines to produce large quantities for supply.
-Increase in the number of skilled labours and their transition from rural to urban areas.

Explain why these are significant.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer - In the phase of industrialisation , the use of machines expanded to a large extent. The new technologies developed for the production of various goods. This was needed because in order to boost the supply of commodities and to produce them in a lesser time , physical labor cannot be relied upon. Hence the increment in the number of machines proved to be very helpful in industrialisation. It was like the spine of this phase.

On the other hand , workers were needed to operate these machines. The unskilled workers have to be trained in order to operate the machines to avoid the accidents and increase efficiency. Thus the requirement the skilled workers increased . Also this led to the movement of the workers from rural to urban areas as they were more developed.

Two western coal power plants (Astoria and Boardman) in Oregon emit SO2 as a result of combustion. SO2 abatement costs increase with the amount of abatement for all power plants, but because of their different sizes and technology, they have different abatement costs. The Marginal Abatement Cost (MAC) equations for each firm are MC=4*QA & MC=8*QB, where QA is the amount of abatement at each the Astoria plant and QB is the amount of abatement at Boardman. Currently, they each...
