NATURAL SELECTION IS THE KEY CONCEPT OF DARWINIAN THEORY OF EVOLUTION. ORGANISMS VARY IN CHARACTERISTICS IN A POPULATION . WHEN RESOURCES ARE LIMITED IN A POPULATION SOME TRAITS WILL HELP SOME OGANISMS TO BETTER ADAPT TO THE CONDITION OF LIMITED RESOURCES. THESE TRAITS ARE INHERITED AND PASSED TO THE NEXT GENERATIONS . THOSE POPULATION WHICH ARE BETTER ADAPTED IN LIMITED RESOURCES CONDITION WILL PRODUCE MORE OFFSPRINGS. FOR A PEROID OF TIME OVER MANY GENERATIONS THESE POPULATION WILL LEAVE MORE PROGENY THAN THE OTHERS. THIS WILL LEAD TO A CHANGE IN POPULATION CHARACTERISTICS. OVER MANY GENERATIONS THIS WILL SLOWLY LEAD TO THE RISE OF A NEW SPECIES.
FIRST STATEMENT : FALSE
THERE IS NO ENOUGH RESOURCES IN THE ENVIRONMENT FOR EVERY ORGANISMS AS MUCH AS IT WANTS . OR THE RESOURCES ARE NOT UNLIMITED IN AN ENVIRONMENT.
SECOND STATEMENT:TRUE
SOME ORGANISMS MAY HAVE DIFFERENT TRAITS COMPARED TO OTHER ORGANISMS IN THE SAME POPULATION. ORGANISMS HAVING TRAITS WHICH HELP THEM TO ADAPT BETTER WILL PRODUCE MORE PROEGNY THAN THE OTHERS.
THIRD STATEMENT : TRUE
ORGANISMS HAVING SUCH TRAITS WILL PRODUCE MORE PROGENIES.
FOURTH STATEMENT: FALSE
ORGANISMS HAVING FAVOURABLE TRAITS WHICH HELP THEM IN GATHERING ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES WILL PRODUCE MORE PROGENIES.
FIFTH STATEMENT: TRUE
ORGANISMS THAT LIVE LONGER MAY PRODUCE MORE OFFSPRING DURING THE COURSE OF THEIR LIFESPAN.
SIXTH STATEMENT: FALSE
OFFSPRINGS MAY HAVE DIFFERENT TRAITS COMPARED TO THEIR PARENTS . THIS IS DUE TO SUDDEN HERITABLE CHANGES KNOWN AS MUTATION
