There is much controversy today regarding the quality of public education. One issue is college preparation. There are those that say many of today's high school graduates are unprepared for college. They receive a high school diploma only to be placed in remedial courses when they arrive at college. Some of you may have had that experience or know others who have.

Some politicians and citizens are in favor of school voucher systems whereby parents/students can decide to attend whatever high school they please and the money from the government for the education of that particular student would go to the school they decide to attend.

Assume some "correlation" exists within the above scenario - correlation between schools and college preparedness or other correlations you may think of. Discuss the issue of correlation and causation for this scenario. Is there any implied causation in the viewpoints expressed above? If so, is this statistically is this correct?

Today's High School Graduates are unprepared for the colleges. They don't have any idea and clarity about the future goals. They are only placed in th remedial cources at the time of the college. Only Half of the School Graduates are ready for the colleges But the skills developed by them in the school are not sufficient for them to succeed in the college. The High school have to give certain career counselings, trainings , college preperation services for the students to have a proper understanding and clarity towards their career. Most of the Politicians and Citizens are in favror of School voucher system whereby students can decide to attend whatever school they want and the government pays the money for the education of the student directly to the school. Schools doesnt bother about their responsibility towards the enlightment of the student .So, there are no proper interest in the Students or the High school management for the proper preparedness of college.Some of the students are unprepared for colleges due to the Untrained teachers.

Most of the students might have been enrolled to Math or English before they move to the colleges due to the lack of skills which was not developed in the schools. This will be a financial loss both to the students.Students who enrolls towards remedial courses never end up with the degree.

According to the survey in San-Francisco, only 45% o the high school students ar prepared for the College. There are different results in this survey. Only 56% felt that the schools have helped them in understanding the staeps to apply for the college while 46% helped them which careers best suits their abilities and iinterests. wehn the students are asked whether the schools helped them to achieve their future goals. The resulta were as follows. 23% used counseling for help on paying colleges.32% used on counseling for help on applying colleges. 34% used on counseling for help on college admission requirements. 36% used on counseling for help on possible future careers.42% used on counseling for college entrance exam preperation.

So, the High schools are direct correlation with the preparedness of the students to college. They have to give proper education and the MAth and English skills, Counseling and training towards the future career path of the students which helps them to succeed in their life.
