Cultural and technological advances began during the early civilizations, resulting in developments as fundamental and various as agriculture and writing systems, as well as fundamental understandings in different disciplines. Each of these developments contribute to what we are today, and without such developments, our current world would look quite different.
Building on your reading of the art of early civilizations, compare and contrast a cuneiform tablet with a smartphone or digital tablet using a Venn Diagram. Then answer the question that follows:
How can you measure the impact of an invention or other accomplishment?
As the technology has advanced, it has made us more civilized or has made our life easy and simple. However it wasn’t an overnight change, it took centuries and decades to adopt the new changes and learn a better alternative to communicate. We say we are more civilized and advanced as we have systematic way to communicate and perform our task, so does it mean that the ancient people were not innovative or were not civilised? This question has to be answered after doing a thorough study. Before we could have pen, paper, smartphone or digital tablet, human being were still using different ways to communicate each other. Cuneiform tablet was an effective way to pass the information or store information among the ancient people. However when the studies were made to learn the languages, they were shocked that even ancient people were as civilised as we are now. Even they made effort to improve and innovate. So impact of an invention or accomplishment is based on the effort on who we store and pass the information to our next generation. It means whatever period we belong to effort were equally made to improve our living. So the technological advancement that we enjoy now is the effort of the past.
