Bahrain maintains a fixed exchange rate regime between the Bahrain dinar and the US dollars. The exchange rate peg provides an anchor for monetary policy. Low inflation and a stable currency are important long haul features of the Bahraini economy which support a stable business climate and its higher degrees of investment both of domestic and foreign origin. Bahrain has an unregulated economy without any limitations on capital developments, foreign exchange, foreign trade or foreign investment. The kingdom has a leading situation in the area as an open, free ,transparent and welcoming climate for investors. The monetary policy framework is geared to support the general economic goals of the kingdom.
Bahrain Central Bank had introduced a repurchase instrument in an effort to help local banks manage their liquidity. The interbank repurchase instrument covers an administrations conventional securities denominated in Bahraini dinars, the regulator said in a statement. This tool will help conventional retail banks borrow from the local market at a lower interest rates and with the guarantee of securities as a collateral. This tool will also allow for investing overabundance liquidity at a lower risk of the central bank added.
