Suppose a company needs a analytical balance and a top loader of 2 kg capacity and 0.01 g readability.

2. What five tests do they need to conduct on each of these new balances?

Since they are new they don't usually need a hysteresis test.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Five test the company needs for the analytic balance:

1. Accuracy Test

2. Sensitivity Test

3. Readability Test

4. Eccentric Load Accuracy Test

5. Capacity Test

Explanation:

1, The accuracy will be measures by cetrified weights by the standard organisation. The differnce in weight must not exceed 0.1 grams mark.

2. Sensitivity Test is done by measuring the standard weightsfor multiple and consecutive times and thus the balance must show value under +/- 0.001 difference mark between all the obser vations.

3. Readbility Test consists of the part which displays the result of balance, is it analog or digital. The calibration must be done in both of the output source.

4. Eccentric Load Test: In this test the load/specimen is place at the different position of the balance and the deviation in results are noted. The eccentricity must not exceed +/- 0.005 grams.

5.Capacity Test: The balance's maximum capacity is tested by putting 100% load on the balance, for continuosly long period and repeated few times. The balance must weigh the same for all observation and should not deform to its original shape.
