rank the top 5 best reactor from best to less best that can deal with high temperture reaction ?

Batch, CSTR, PFR , PBR other ??

Solutions

Expert Solution

The batch reactor is flexible compared with continuous reactor configurations. For example, temperature can easily be made a function of reaction time. Once the reactor is put into service, operational alternatives are still available.

In, CSTRs, mixing of heat generated avoidance of reactor hot spots for highly exothermic reactions, making temperature easier to control,

plug flow reactor (PFR) can be assumed as reactor in incremental slices (each slice is perfectly mixed radially but has no forward or backward mixing between slices; each slice can be envisioned as a miniature CSTR). Hence, Temperature profile will be created along the PFR. At the end of PFR, it will difficult to control reaction.

In PBR , for highly exothermic or endothermic reactions when temperature control is difficult. Packings also create difficulty in temperature control.

Batch>CSTR>PFR>PBR : High best to lowest best

A skier of mass 75kg starts from rest at the top of a friction less incline that is 20.0 m in height. As soon as she touches the bottom of the incline, she encounters a horizontal surface that is 1000 m long and the skier eventually comes to rest. The coefficient of kinetic friction between skier and snow is 0.205. Find the distance the skier covers before coming to rest. Show all work.

2.While stock selection is best approached from the bottom-up, ignoring the top-down can be extraordinarily expensive. The bottom-up can also inform the top-down. A 2kg rock is thrown horizontally from the top of a building that is 20m high. The rock’s initial horizontal velocity is 5m/s. When the rock is halfway to the ground, what is the net force on it (including direction)? How long did it take for the rock in problem 1 to hit the ground? How far from the base of the building did the rock in problem 1 hits?
