Whether or not it is moral for the government to force businesses to shut down during the pandemic using utilitarianism.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer - Yes, it is moral for the government to force businesses to shut down during the pandemic using utilitarianism.

Explanation - Utilitarianism refers to the actions taken by the government or anybody that gives or provides maximum or greatest benefits to humanity. The government is shutting down the business forcefully in the pandemic because it is necessary for the health and the safety of every citizen. As we know that the coronavirus is very dangerous, and still there is no vaccine that is 100% beneficial for fighting against the coronavirus. The thing we can do is to maintain social distancing and wash our hands regularly to avoid the spread to Covid19. The government is closing the business operations to avoid social gatherings and it is now more important than the business operations for the betterment of human beings.
