Topic of the systematic review: Hospital Readmissions
Leppin, A. L., Gionfriddo, M. R., Kessler, M., Brito, J. P., Mair, F. S., Gallacher, K., & ... Montori, V. M. (2014). Preventing 30-day hospital readmissions: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials. JAMA Internal Medicine, 174(7), 1095-1107. doi:10.1001/jamainternmed.2014.1608
1. Formulate a significant clinical question related to the topic of the systematic review that will be the basis for your capstone change project.
2. Relate how you developed the question.
3. Describe the importance of this question to your clinical practice previously, currently, or in the future.
4. Describe what a research-practice gap is.
1. clinical question is:
"is palliative care is more effective than chemotherapy in managing aa elderly patient with more pain beacuse of last stage of cervical cancer".
this is a therapy question. the best study design for therapy question is randomised controlled trial (RCT)
2. the question is developd by PICO technique for quantitative study design. for ex.
P- Patient/Population- an elderly patient with cervical cancer.
I- Intervention- Palliative care
C- Comparison- chemotherapy
O- Outcome- more pain
3. THIS QUESTION IS VERY MUCH IMPORTANT FOR ME DURING MY PREVIOUS PRACTICE. WITHOUT PICO TECHNIQUE WE WILL NOT ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE BEST THERAPY FOR THE PATIENT AND WHICH IS IRRITATING FOR THE PATIENT. TI FINDOUT THE PERFECT OUTCOME THIS TECHNIQUE IS USED. FOR EXAMPLE IF WE NOT PROVIDE ANY SUBSTITUTE OF NICOTINE TO A SMOKER THEN IT WILL BE DIFFICULT TO MAKE HIM AWAY FROM SMOKING.IF WE NOT PROVIDE ANY ALTERNATE INTERVENTION TO PATIENT FOR ANY PROBLEMS THEN THE PATIENT SURVIVAL ALSO DECREASE.
4. THERE IS VAST GAP IN RESEARCH AND PRACTICE. RESEARCH IS RE-SEARCH BUT PRACTICE IS PRACTICE. RESEARCH CAN BE DONE BY COMPUTERISED BY A RESEARCHER BUT PRACTICE IS HAVE TO DO ONSITE ONLY BY THE PRACTITIONER. THE VALID RESEARCH IS ALWAYS DEPENDS UPON QUALITATIVE NURSING PRACTICE.
MAXIMUM PRACTICE NURSE ARE NOT READING JOURNALS SO WHATEVER UPDATED RESEARCH THE RESEARCHER ARE DOING THAT IS UNABLE TO IMPLEMENT DURING PRACTICE. THE PRACTICE NURSE ALSO PRACTICALLY NOT ABLE TO READ JOURNAL BECAUSE OF WORK LOAD. SO THATS WHY RESEARCH AND PRACTICE SHOULD GO SIMULTANEOUSLY OTHERWISE THERE WILL FORMATION OF GAP.
TO PREVENTING THESE GAP NURSING ADMINISTRATOR AND EDUCATOR MUST SEARCH FOR PROGRAMS AND STRATEGIES TO ESTABLISH RESEARCH BASED NURSING PRACTICE.
