Scenario 1: A man pulls into your driveway. He gets out of the car and starts to yell about his wife. He explains that his wife is about to give birth. She is full term in her pregnancy and 34 years old. She says that she feels the need to push and that the baby is coming. You want to help. (1) What immediate steps would you take in this emergency? (2) What questions would you want to ask the couple?
Scenario Continued: The couple says that this will be their 4th child and that her contractions are less than 2 minutes apart. They do not know of any complication and her due date is in a couple days. (1) Describe the steps you would take in helping the women through the delivery process.
Scenario 2: You have been camping in the woods after backpacking up the mountain for about 20 miles. As you are hiking a small mountain trail you come across someone who had been mountain biking on the same path you are on. They are lying on the ground in the path holding their arm to their chest and moaning in pain. The bike has a bent tire rim and is lying against a large rock. You want to help them. (1) Describe the steps you would immediately take in this situation. (2) What information do you need to take into account because of your location?
Scenario Continued: The biker’s arm seems to be broken, but they have no major lower body injuries from the crash. They are fully conscious and able to walk, but in pain when their arm is jostled. You have your hiking backpack with you with some clothes and band aids, but no first aid kit. (1) What steps should you take to care for the individual using the supplies available to you? (2) How would you get the person further care and when would you know to stop caring for the individual?
1 make the wife in a comfortable position in the car itself, and provide a calm and risk free environment and psychological support to the couple. ask the women to take a deep breath. meanwhile should call for emergency service for the help, make the women fo delivering the baby
2 ask the couple about the history of pregnancy, ask for about any complication seen in the last scanning such as the position of the baby position of the umblical cord healthe condition of wife and the related health issues such as bp, diabeties, etc
1 remove her pants and underwear. Lie down or sit propped Try to stay calm, and practice deep breathing. When the urge to push becomes overwhelming, push for counts of five then pause and breathe.
Do your best to gently guide the baby out as it emerges from your pelvis, and carefully unloop the umbilical cord if it’s wrapped around the baby’s body or neck.
Dry off the baby and place the baby directly on your chest to keep it warm.
If the baby doesn’t immediately start to cry, run your fingers along either side of its nose to ease away mucus, and stimulate the baby’s skin by rubbing firmly but gently on its back with a piece of clothing or a dry towel
If you have two strings of any kind handy (a shoelace, thread, or a ribbon, for example), tie one string around the umbilical cord four to five inches away from the baby’s belly. Tie the other further from the baby two to three inches past the first string. Then cut the cord with a scissors or knife between the two ties. This way, when you do skin-to-skin contact against your chest, the baby is protected from potential bleeding if the cord were to tear away from the belly button.
Seek medical care as soon as possible after delivery. because it can be risky for mothers and babies during and after delivery.
1 first see the conciousness and the speaking ability of the person
if he can speak ask for the incident in brief
make th patient in comfor without moving harshly
check the person for the breating ability for any difficulty or any othe chest injury
see him for any outside injury of chest or any peircing foreign material over the body
2 it is a mountain area so that there may be sliding areas are there from that we can understand the fall of the person is from some heights and by increasin altitude the oxygen carrying capacity also reduced so this may increse the risk of the person
1 The target is to make the person relief from pain, so firstly keep the injure hand in an immovable condition for that use the available cloths to roll hand and keep sefely. apply pressure to the injured hand if thre is any cuts to avoid bleeding
2 make the person comfort and call for any vehicle and help him until reach the hospital and getting the first aid treatment
