how well can Ovid the Poet be used as a historian of the region in his time?
Ovid was a famous and a major Poet of Roman empire. He began creating his poems during the period of Augustus. He was the creator of "Art of Love". He imparted main role in golden and silver era of Roman empire. Feeling of love was his favorite emotion to write about.
He also wrote about several mythological transformation. His creations tell a lot about Latin literature and also about Latin society. He explained the Roman Society through various creations in which love was main emotion. He said that love is too dangerous and even Gods become affected with this feeling.
He considered love as the main reason for all types of dangers and miseries. He wrote harsh truth about societies and due to this reason his works were also banned at that time. He wrote about Gods in a mocking tone.
Rulers of that time did not like that aspect and try to impose various restrictions on his work. This shows the importance of Gods in Latin society. So, his work depicts a lot about the region of his time and due to this reason his status is to be used as historian.
