As noted by Woods, Zibarras & Hinton (2017):
Schneider's Attraction-Selection- Attrition (ASA) model (Schneider, 1987) describes how people are attracted to organisations principally on the basis of their judgement about whether they fit with the job and organisation. Initial decisions may be based on perceptions of [person-] job fit, but during the recruitment... phase, according to the ASA model, applicants and organisations both enter into a kind of fact-finding exercise, designed to determine the degree of fit between them. (p. 166) Given the importance of subjective fit perceptions in decision making according to this model, critically examine possible recruitment sources and methods that could lead to high person-organisation (PO) fit.
the attraction -Selection-atrition(ASA) moel introduced by Benjamin scheinder is a psychological theory that describes why organizations look and feel the way they do.it describes about the organizational behaviour.the ASA model explains about the framework for understanding organizational behaviour that that integrates both individual and orgnizational prespectives.the frame work proposes that the outcome of three interrelated dynamic processes,atraction-selection-attrition,determines the the kinds of people in an organization, its structures,is processes and ultimately its cuture.
the core of ASA model are the goals of organization originally articulaed by the founder, organizational goals of and processes structures and culture that emerge to facilitate attainment of these goals are suggested to be reflections of th particular characteristics of the founder and those of his or her early collegues.schneider suggests that founders are faced with a variety of decisions to make regarding whom to hire, how to compensate employyees hpw to structure reporting relation ships and even what industries or markets to enter.the decisions made are influenced by the underlying values, motives and dispositions of the founder.
the ASA cycle begins with the attraction processwhich concerns the fact that peoples preferences for particular organizations are based on some estimates.the second step is that the selection process which means the recruitment by the agencies.finally the attrition process that refers to idea that people will leave the organization they do not fit.
