1.) use an efficient antivirus:
- Antiviruses often block the malware that stored in local disk
preventing users from opening them
2.) use anti-spyware protection:
- Antiviruses does not provide protection against spywares!
- Anti-spywares provide protection against spywares, adwares and
trojans.
3.) Disable autorun features in the system:
- If the user enables an autorun so that a program may install on
their device without authorization, then it is a perfect for
viruses to attach themselves to the system.
- Furthermore, the virus can spread themselves if the system is
connected to a network.
4.) Firewall usage:
- Firewalls can offer protection from illicit sources from
entering the system by blocking them out.
- A hardware based firewall can prove to be more secure than a
software based firewall
5.) Use protection against compromised Domain Name
Systems:
- Some of the DNS may be compromised by a virus, that redirects a
user accessing a webpage to another URL, which inturn may infect
the device using drive-by dowloand.
- Using DNS protection services to avoid this.
