We are given a 2x2 contingency table on criminal behaviour and their support, we have to test is there any relationship exist between them or not.
The hypothesis to be stated for this test is:
Ho: There is no significant relationship betwwen criminal behaviour and support.
H1: There is significant relationship between criminal behaviour and support
Since we are given a categorical data, therefore chi-square test is appropriate for testing the hypothsis.
test statistic is given by:
chi square =
= 22.5109
so the value of test statistic is 22.5109
if this value is greater than tabulated value of chi square at alpha % level of significane than we reject Ho
This value is greater than tabulated value at 5% level of significance so we reject the null hypothesis and conclude that there is no significant relationship betwwen criminal behaviour and support.
