Suicide Ideation
Suicidal ideation or suicidal thoughts can be defined as thinking about or planning suicide. Thoughts can range from creating a detailed plan to having a fleeing consideration. It may or may not result in the final act of suicide.
Pathophysiology
The symptoms include :
Feeling of hopelessness
Intolerable emotions
Preoccupied with violence, dying or death
Talking about revenge, guilt, shame
Agitation
Sleep disturbances
Alcohol /drug use
Taking risky activities
Isolation
Family history of suicide
Mental illness like depression
An unexpected loss
Any mental trauma
Neglected child
Lack of social support
Alcohol /drug abuse
Personality traits
Chronic illness
Any brain trauma
The above mentioned risk factors will lead the person to a stage of helplessness, hopelessness and worthlessness feeling so that the person will be preoccupied with suicidal thoughts and can show some symptoms as mentioned above but in some cases the person will not show any of the symptoms and others can realise only when does the act.
