You may have seen those ankle weight bands that people wear.
These are strapped just above the
ankle and might weigh 5 lbs. Suppose we compared walking under two
different conditions, one
in which the weight was worn normally (just above the ankle) and
another where it was worn just
above the knee. Using the length of your own leg, determine the
rotational effect (moment of
inertia) of wearing the weight in these two different places during
the leg swing of walking. How
large of a change is there between the two conditions?
