Why is it more favorable to use an external source versus an internal source for quality assurance program administration?
The system that are created to manage and assure quality should be referred to as quality assurance systems, which is to ensure the standards of quality, required for organizations for maintaining to serve a specific purpose.
There are two quality assurance system to achieve a desired quality.
1.External quality assurance focuses on compliance and accountability. It provides the national framework within which the various institutional quality systems operate. EQA is regulated by National Accreditation Board (Government agency) by process of accreditation, strict enforcement of regulation and monitoring of various higher education institutions (National level)
2. Internal quality assurance for improvement and enhancement. It is managed by regulations and administrative laws by respective educational institution (institutional level) and limited to private.
Since, these systems are supposed to work together to achieve a goal, they show number of differences in structure and model of operation.
The MAIN POINTS which is favorable for EQA:
1. It can be used by government, students, employers, funding organizations, institutions of higher education
2. Trends in higher education system
3. Growing social demand and expansion of systems
4. Privatization of higher education
5. Higher education increasingly perceived as a private good
6. Regulation and government demand for value for money
7. A shift to the market and consumer demand for market transparency
8. Globalization
9. Borderless market for higher education
10. International market for quality assurance services
11. Supervision of current functioning
12. Assessments related to initial opening of programme and institutions.
