Expert Solution

Triangular Theory of Love looks at three aspects and their combination, Intimacy (Liking), Passion (Infatuation) and Commitment (Empty love) and their combination in terms of Intimacy + Passion (Romantic love) ,Passion + Commitment (Fatuous Love), Commitment + Intimacy  (Companionate love).

Wheel Theory of Love at four levels going in a circle and back Rapport, Self-revelation, Mutual Dependency and Personality and Need Fulfillment. Moreover it also talks about the outer circles of socio-cultural backgrounds and role conceptions.

Both these theories have their own pros and cons. However, Wheel of Love emerges more stronger a theory of love as compared to Triangular Theory of Love. This is because the Triangular theories of love talk about the various types of love and emotional apsects attached to those types. It does not show these types as stages in motion as described by the Wheel of Love. Moreover, it also does not describe how the socio-cultural backgorunds and role conceptions impact the love relationship.

Another merit of the wheel theory of love as against the triagular theory of love is it can be applied to any love relationship not necessary between friends and romantic partners. It is applicable even to parent child relationships.

Moreover, the wheel theory of love indicates that these stages of love can be continuous process in case the people in love wish to keep the love in the relationship alive.

Whereas, the triangular theory does not indicate any remedial measure if there is love lost or the stages or the process of moving to create and maintain relationships.
