Reason for intercropping yam and black pepper with
cocoyam
With advancement in science especially in agricultural science of agronomy, we implement a number of new techniques in the product development. Among them, intercropping is one if the approaches where generally two different sort of plant take in a similar agricultural field, some time more than 2 kinds of crops are also being used for such practice. Intercropping practice is an effective way to grow tropical root crop along with tuber crops.
Yam and cocoyam, both are similar kind of crop (tuber crops; starchy crop) and they may grow together and restrict the weed formation in the agricultural field and such conditions are best for the high yield production of black pepper (particularly for sweet peppers). Therefore, this approach is best for all the crops and enhances the production of said crops through intercropping practice. Conclusively, cultivation of yam with black pepper along with cocoyam can enhance the quality and quantity of crops and minimize the weed formation in the farm.
