Course: Soil mechanics
Theme: Fellenius Method
There is a soil with the following characteristics: cohesion of 0.4
kg / cm2, friction angle 33 ° and dry density of 1.7 gr / cm3 and
when saturated, effective cohesion of 0.2 kg / cm2, effective
friction angle of 24 °. and a saturated density of 2.2 gr / cm3.
The slope under evaluation has a 38 ° inclination, the rocky layer
is 11 meters away, finding the stability of the slope in a dry and
saturated condition, in addition to evaluating the critical
height.
FOS is determined by dividing the resisting force to the destabilizing force. If FOS >1 then slope is stable otherwise not. Also critical height is determined by taking FOS =1.
