In simple words a socio-political movement to save the interest of common people is through a political change and the support of government action can be called progressivism.

Many Countries are reached in today's status by the progressive movements. The progressivism in different countries at different time made changes in the socio economic and political aspect of the many countries. We can take U.S as an example, the life of the people of U.S changed permanently by the progressivim that occurred during the late nineteenth and early 20th centuries.

WOMEN AND PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT

We cannot point a better example than the National American Women Suffrage Association (NAWSA) as a wprogressive movement led by women. The NAWSA was formed on February 18, 1890 aiming the women's suffrage in the United States. The organisations named National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA) and the American Woman Suffrage Association (AWSA) merged together to form the new Organisation and later this become the part of American history. The organisation was started with just 7000 members and eventually become largest voluntary organization in the nation with two million members.

The organisation fought for the women's right to vote. NAWSA has a vital role in the passing of nineteenth amendment to the Cinstitution of U.S in 1920. By this amendment women become equal part of the democracy and they get right to vote.

The suffrage movement also made many reforms in the U.S. Susan B. Anthony was the first and long term leader of the newly formed suffrage movement. She lead many campaigns after the senate rejected the proposed women's suffrage amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1887. This movement become the part of the progressive reforms history after the constitutional amendment of 1920.
