Ans a) The micro-organisms that is suspected is Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This micro-organism is a type of bacteria which spreads from person to person and is contagious in nature. It is believed that it is the stated micro-organism because all symptoms refer to tuberculosis. The major symptoms of TB are cough, fever, night sweats and weight loss.
Ans b) Treatment for tuberculosis – Majority of the cases are treated with help of medication when it is prescribed appropriately. However, depending on the severity and potential impact, the length and dose can vary. It also depends on whether the TB is latent or active. People suffering from latent TB require single type of antibiotics and one suffering from active TB are offered multiple drugs. The antibiotics are given for a length of around 6 to more months.
