A recent study examined the merit aid program in Massachusetts (called the "Adams Scholarship"). This program gave students with high SAT scores and grades in high school free tuition at Massachusetts public universities. The study found that actually students who received scholarships and attended public universities became less likely to graduate college. Why do you think this happened? (Hint - the study is discussed in the lectures but it is not on the reading list.)
US Department of Education (ED) acts as a cabinet ministry and administered under the direct supervision of Secretary. ED has the policy of imparting the common and higher education to all set of people and also decentralize the education with international standard without compromising the quality of education. The Federal Government also provides various funding programs through granting the Aids to all types of Universities and the High level schools in all the States of Local government municipalities. Such Aids are given in the form of scholarships to the deserving students. All World famous universities are offering scholarships to the best academically qualified students. Massachusetts public universities was one among the best university in the US offers Adam Scholarship. As already mentioned that this scholarship programs trains the sharp students to get high SAT scores and high grade by conducting free tuition in the university campus. The above facts are determined through the study examined about Adam Scholarship. Let us discuss the gradual decrease in the student rate of graduating finally through Massachusetts public universities.
The Students who avails the scholarship programs are clearing the test with less percentage. Some students were not aware of procuring this program. After finishing the two years in the private college, Selective students uses the fine opportunity and get good scores by the Adam scholarship program. Finally they enter the third and fourth year respectively. As they Massachusetts university is the public university, Even academically strong students took some time to pickup the portions of syllabus which were taught in first and second year of the same university. This makes them indifferently to cope with the new curriculum of the studies. And also the Exam conducted through Adam Scholarship programs are very tough and fully skilled students are able to clear and also are able to complete the full degree and gets graduation through Massachusetts Public University. But the students from different backgrounds and also with less academic skills are not able to complete the graduation in third as well in the fourth year, though they are able to clear initially in the Adam Scholarship main test. It is noticed from the education journal that out of 3360 students enrolled in the Adam Scholarship programs, 780 students are able to get eligibility to get graduation degree by clearing all the test for consecutive studies in this public universities. And also many students due to their lower-level skills of observing the studies, they tend to discontinue the studies in the Massachusetts public university. This was the actual reason for less graduation rate in the Massachusetts Public University though it provides the Adam Scholarship Program.
