ANS) Hunger is the general state of wanting to eat. It is basically a motivation. Many factors like biological and enviournmental influence hunger.People have a genetically influenced or prepared Set Point for body weight. if the weight of the person increases above his set point, his appetite decreases, or maybe he uses up more energy. His weight then returns to its normal set point. And if the persons weight falls below his set point, his desire or preferance increases, and it results in using up less energy. Then finally, he returns to his set point. BRAIN and DIGESTIVE SYSTEM influence hunger in many ways and is involved in the regulation of hunger process. It is believed that three areas in the hypothalamus play a key role in regulating hunger. Metabolic Rate is the rate at which a person uses energy on a full completion of rest. After a meal, the stomach and intestine sends a nerve impulses to the brain to help people recognize that they are fully occupied with food.

The part of the brain which are involved and controls hunger is the Hypothalamus. It is the Main regulatory organ for apetite. Hypothalamus is a section of the brain which is responsible for harmone production. The harmones produced by this area of the brain controls body temperature, thirst, mood, hungerr, sleep, etc.

Blood chemicals involved in this are- Leptin and Ghrelin are both naturally made in the body. Leptin controls hunger and signals that the body has enough to eat. Ghrelin acts on neurons located in the hypothalamus and increases hunger causing nerve cells. Over prolonging of leptin is a major cause of obesity.Insulin like peptide also stimulate hunger, which basically produced in colon which circulates, basically its a circulating hormone.
