What was the status of the wandering minstrel in comparison to the troubadours, trouvères, and minnesingers? Are there similar differences today between the professional popular or folk musicians and other segments of society?
The status of “wandering minstrel” who wanders from house to house for pay. Minstrel shows were traveling variety shows in 19th century America, considered offensive now because performers often wore "blackface" makeup and performed ugly racial stereotypes. as a singer& his mai musical instrument was LYRE.
There were two types of Medieval Musicians - the Minstrels and
the Troubadours. A troubadour was originally a travelling musician.
The Troubadours travelled from one village to another
. They spread the latest news by travelling. The themes songs that
sung by the Troubadours mainly dealt with chivalry & courtly
love - romantic ballads& also told stories of far land &
histrolical events. The troubadour would play for royalty
nobles.
Famous Troubadours:
The famous troubadours included elite men of the Middle Ages. The
most famous troubadours included:

King Thibaut IV of Navarre
King Alfonso X of Castile and León

Minnesingers : People who wrote and performed Minnesang , it was a traditional lyrics & were known as Minnesänger , & their single song was called a Minnelied. The name derives from minne, the Middle High German word for love, as that was Minnesang's main subject.
Trouveres : The essence of trouvère rhetoric lies in the
combination of traditional themes & the use of established
forms in which to express them. The audience gained p
leasure from familiarity with these clichés rather than from the
poet’s originality. It is thus perhaps the least Trouvère lyrics
were intended to be sung, probably by the poet alone or with
instrumental accompaniment provided by a hired musician.
YES, there is alot of difference today between the professional popular or folk muscians & other societies because music compositions & the lyrics are changed as per the requirements , as what the todays generation like to hear only some of the compositions are preserved ,
Composers wrote pieces that shifted between polyphonic and
homophonic textures. This made the me
lodies more complex & elaborate. Many factors contributed to
the change of musical texture during these periods.
