An RN walks into a patient’s room and encounters the patient with his arms crossed. The patient states in a loud voice, “How come I’m not being taken care of in this hospital?” The patient points to the covered tray on the table across the room and states,” My lunch tray is sitting over there, and I can’t reach it. My call light has been on for the last 30 minutes, and nobody has responded. My wife was right when she said the care here is deplorable!“
Address the following:
- Describe which communication style the RN should use to benefit the patient in this scenario.
- Provide two conflict resolution strategies for the RN to use when responding to the patient.
As per the effective nursing pattern the RN should firstly respect the social, mental and medical status of the patient.
And will follow the concept of patient centered healthcare delivery. Then when the patiet get cool down RN should try to make a positive environment and should offer the safety of the patient.
then he/she should take the patient in the faith that he/she is valuable to us and for our organization.
And his/her complete care is the key approch of our organization.
Then shoud verbally explain the reasons of all.
then assure him/her that the care will be on priority in future with the help of effective communication.
then the RN will follow the concept of conflict resolution strategies while responding to the patient.
As the nursing administration face various challenges in resolving conflicts within healthcare organization. For this the RN should involve with the patient during the whole therapy
The code of ethics should be strictly followed to ensure the well being of the patient.Even the information regarding the therapy should be discussed with the patient.
He/she should be informed regarding to be ADRs in the therapy.
And should be trained regarding how to tackle such situations, like what are dietary cautions as well as other consideration.
In this way patient will feel that he/she is the active person of the therapy and he is actively informed and involved in all the process.
Thus the patient will develop a faith on RN and in the same way in the therapy and services provided to him/her.
This will be the best style in this case that the RN should use to benefit the patient in this scenario.
