The study reports that, at March 21, 2019, a $1,000 investment (near 2012 or 2013). Cumulative returns of more than eighty percent were calculated at just over $1,800. The S&P 500 was up more than 100% in the same time period, by contrast. While the stock of the company has been up marginally over the years, any stock will achieve over- or underperformance and past returns do not guarantee results in the future. Many experts expect automotive issues as a whole. In BMW's annual report, "political and economic patterns in Europe remain uncertain," and "Brexit's unforeseeable effect" could increase commercial tensions with the EU and China.

Apart from the above things, there are amnay many other reasons for GM stocks to be flucutuated. President Donald Trump, who blasted GM in November after unveiling plans to slash some of its iconic car models by 14,000 US and Canadian jobs, could also place taxes on the vehicles imported into the U.S., the concept creating additional uncertainty among investors. Trump also urged the corporation to reestablish its state-owned plant and return to its $2.65 billion investment program for its Brazilian plants in São Paulo at its rally in Ohio on. The company is preparing to recruit 1,000 staff to its Flint, Michigan, factory to build new trucks and hire ex-GM workers who have been laid elsewhere. He also accepts electric bicycle orders now and invests in Tesla's competitor Rivian in talks. GM CEO Mary Barra said in a statement that the company "packed a year in 2018 in a highly unpredictable world and made brave decisions to accelerate this industry's change and generate valuable shareholder value."

Impact of COVID19:

Following an employee testing positive for the COVID-19 virus, GM shut down its campus at Warren, Michigan. The site will be thoroughly cleaned and reopened, possibly on Tuesdays at the end of the day. GM said colleagues of the employee would be guided for 14 days for self-quarantine. The medical staff of the organization will assist in arranging treatment if necessary. In the latest indication of the worsening of US-China relations, the Chinese Government said it would expel a number of U.S. journalists. GM is one of the largest car producers in China. In response to the increasing epidemic in Europe, Ford and Fiat Chrysler have both begun shutting down plants. In the US, they and GM might well follow suit early – particularly as the UAW pushes the issue. Each three car makers were hit hard by the virus pandemic but shutdowns in the US would result in significant further losses for GM and its competitors in the United States. Any disruption in the operations of GM in China would only bring pain.
