Blade runner has also been identified in the form of a cult classic, since it had severe implications of the genre of science fiction. This had been directed by Ridley Scott. The film shows the future, where, 2019 has been portrayed. In this future, there are synthetic humans as well as bio engineered corporations. Metropolis is a movie that has been directed by Fritz Lang. This was the movie that had changed the works of science fiction. It portrayed futuristic designs as well.

In metropolis, there were futuristic cities portrayed, which consisted of business magnates as well as industrialists. The master of the city is Joh fredersen, whose son spends his time in maintaining the rich lifestyle.

Both the cities intended to put forward technology laden cities and that the society would be functioning on the basis of sun technologies. Technology has become the culture of both the portrayed cities. In both films though, gender roles as well as technology are the theme,

Blade runner shows the outer space along with the vision of what the earth would be in the near future. It had been argued by many critics that though metropolis had. Been Visually stunning, the story lacked the power.

In the metropolis, se-x has been represented in a fairly negative connotation as robot females are seen to be dancing in front of rich men and them staring at her. In blade runner, the machine begins to have human like emotions and the line between human and machine becomes thinner. Metropolis has its focus on social activism and classism and blade runner focus on what being human is.
