A personal support worker (PSW) has a unique and challenging task of assisting and observing the patient for a good care for daily living activities and constant monitoring with assitive care. The question that the PSW shoukd ask when pain is reported by the patient are:

1. What caused the pain in first place? = This helps in understanding the incidence and fund the correct location

2. Did the pain start suddenly or gradually? = This will help us monitor the time duration and extent of the pain

3. Do you have any difficulty in movement or if the movement causes the pain? = This will help to understand the kind and type of paina dn will help in assisting diagnosis and eventually treatment

4. Are you taking any medication for the pain or any treatment? = This will help to understand the pain medication to have any caudal links and role in the treatment or management of the existing symptoms

As far as the observations are concerned, the question along with the reported symptom and observations of the same by personally checking shall help in accurate reporting, noting, diagnosis and eventually the treatment. So observing the pain complains and rechecking them by PSW is critical to the patient personalized care and maintenance of safety.
