Please answer the following question -
1. Your boss asks you to lie on their expense report as they did not the big tax refund that they desired. They pretended they took their client to dinner when they actually took their significant other. What would you do?
a. Your boss wants to encourage an employee to quit so they do not need to pay them a severance. You know for a fact they are docking their hours illegally. What would you do?
b. You know that you are paid $3,00 less than the intern that is hired to work underneath you. What would you do?
1) I will refuse to do that as it will lead to window dressing and mispresentation of financial statement which can reflect wrong financial position of business at the end of the year. But rather in order to ensure that expenses and income side tally , I will ommit the tax refund and dinner expenses altogether so that I don't lie and at the same time expense report will not show mispresented information.
2) I will not support the boss to encourage employee to quit as it will be against the ethical code and since boss has been illegally docking their working hours , the best practise in this case would be to blow a whistle to reveal the unethical practices of the organization so that timely action is taken and further immoral practices are discouraged.
3) I will first try to directly and sincerely approach the boss and explain to him the situation and the superior-subordinate relationship with my intern as per which paying him more than me is completely against the compensation policy and an unfair activity. If boss takes any initiative to solve the issue I will wait for action but if boss completely ignores and overlooks to my issue , I will take appropriate measures such as Forming an employee Union or starting a protest.
