In: Statistics and Probability
Before finalizing the design of a keyboard, an electronics company decided to conduct an experiment to see the effect of two design choices (backlight: red vs. blue; product weight: heavy vs. light) on customers' attitude towards the product (measured on a scale of 1 to 7). Run the appropriate statistical test and at .05 level identify whether these design choices have an effect on consumers' attitude towards the product. Identify if there is a significant interaction effect (at .05 level). |

The ANOVA table is:
Source | SS | df | MS | F | p-value |
Factor 1 | 0.31 | 1 | 0.313 | 0.15 | .7009 |
Factor 2 | 13.61 | 1 | 13.613 | 6.48 | .0130 |

The hypothesis being tested is:
H0: There is no main effect of product weight on customers' attitude towards the product
Ha: There is a main effect of product weight on customers' attitude towards the product
The p-value is 0.7009.
Since the p-value (0.7009) is greater than the significance level (0.05), we cannot reject the null hypothesis.
Therefore, we cannot conclude that there is a main effect of product weight on customers' attitudes towards the product.
The hypothesis being tested is:
H0: There is no main effect of backlight on customers' attitude towards the product
Ha: There is a main effect of backlight on customers' attitude towards the product
The p-value is 0.0130.
Since the p-value (0.0130) is less than the significance level (0.05), we can reject the null hypothesis.
Therefore, we can conclude that there is a main effect of backlight on customers' attitudes towards the product.
The hypothesis being tested is:
H0: There is no significant interaction effect
Ha: There is a significant interaction effect
The p-value is 0.0009.
Since the p-value (0.0009) is less than the significance level (0.05), we can reject the null hypothesis.
Therefore, we can conclude that there is a significant interaction effect.
