In how many ways can 3 men, 4 women, 5 boys, and 3 girls be selected from 7 men, 9 women, 6 boys and 8 girls if
a. no restrictions are imposed,
b. a particular man and woman must be selected?
Here we are using the combination :
part b) :
one of the men was already chosen, that we are selecting from a group of 6 (7-1) rather than 7. same for woman, since a woman was pre-selected, we are selecting from 8 (9-1) rather than 9. And the number you need to select is also reduced by 1.
i.e 2 (3-1) men and 3 (4-1) women are selected
a) ans : 1481760
b) ans : 376320
