Ensuring the safety of nurse with Immobile patients-

  • Identify Complications of immobility (e.g.contractures,Bed sores) and avoid Direct touching the Infected Skin.
  • Assess the client for mobility, gait and motor skills so Nurse needn't assist the patient fully.
  • Perform skin assessment and implement measures to maintain skin integrity and prevent skin breakdown (e.g., turning, repositioning, pressure-relieving support surfaces) that can reduce the burden on the nurse.
  • Apply knowledge of nursing and psychomotor skills when providing care to clients with immobility.
  • Apply and maintain or remove orthopedic devices (e.g. splints, braces, casts) as per the needs.
  • Apply and maintain devices used to promote venous return (e.g., anti-embolic stockings,compression devices) so Patients complications can too be prevented.
  • Educate the client regarding proper methods used when repositioning so he/she needn't depend on nurse Everytime.
  • Maintain the client's correct body alignment so The improvement will be better.
  • Maintain/correct the adjustment of client's traction device (e.g., external fixation device, skeletal traction)
  • Implement measures to promote circulation in the body (e.g., active or passive range of motion, positioning and mobilization) so patient can improve better in mobilty and nurse will too get relieved due to less burden of work.
