As a result of watching the video: Everybody Rides the Carousel, select one scene of significance to you and discuss the scene from the perspective of at least two of the following theories: learning theory, cultural theory, social role theory, and systems theory. I was thinking about using the second scene ; erikson's stage autonomy versus shame, i'm just having a hard time adding in two theories to it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKt7__yeszw - this is the video, its super long though
This video is vs interesting, it is perfectly depicting stages given by Erikson and the real life situations as well. Coming to your problem the autonomy vs shame can be explained better by Learning theory and systems theory.
A child is in the stage of trying out. Child's brain is working good enough to learn new things and as all the things are new for him, child wants to learn or wants to try. Hence child depicts just like its parents such eating food with your own hands, drinking water etc. While doing these activities child doesn't wants help of anybody, child wants to try these things on it's own - autonomy. But also has fear of parents scolding him, or what if anything goes wrong. The child is timid enough to confess ie. shame.
Culture theory - Here culture also plays an important role. Children are not raised same everywhere around the world. There are some cultures which do not provide child any freedom and lays too much of emphasis hence child is afraid or does less mess compared to other children around the world. For eg: in some countries other only feeds the child so that the mess is avoided in front of family. Hence some culture encouraage more of of lion type behavious that is autonomous culture whereas some culture foster or prefer rabbit, or being thoughtful type behaviour.
