Explain and provide examples of key aspects of the definition: determinants, distribution, population, health phenomena, morbidity, mortality, aims, and levels.
Determinants:
The factors that influence the health status of the individual and the community is the determinants of health.
Example:
Distribution:
Distribution is the measuring of health outcomes within the group whether the healthcare is equally distributed among the population. For Example, Measuring the overall outcomes of population health by using the metrics such as Genetic factors, Environmental factors, socioeconomic factors, lifestyle factors, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, Demographics etc.
Population:
Population is the organism of the same species lives in a particular geographical area. It is determined based on the density of population, birth and the death rates, gender, and age. For Example, Pond population means that all species such as birds, fish, insects, mammals, habitat in the lake. Population of African elephant means includes African bush elephant and African Forest elephant.
Health phenomena:
A phenomenon is a scientific thing that is occurred or exists. In simple words, it is known as extraordinary. Examples of Natural phenomena is the gravity and the oscillation. Example of visual phenomena is the illusion of static image due to perceiving movement. Psychological phenomena is the improvement of human performance when the person is supervised by superiors.
Morbidity:
The morbidity is the incidence of disease that occurs in a particular geographical area. It is calculated by the number of people affected within the area divided by the total number of people within the area.
Example: Morbidity rate of cancer, Morbidity rate of sickness.
Mortality:
The mortality rate is also knowns as Death rate. It is the number of deaths occur in a particular group by time, place, and cause. For Example, Infant Mortality Rate is the ratio of deaths under 1 year of age in a given year to the total number of live births in the same year.
Aims:
Aims is the set of objectives that are time-specific and measurable. The six aims of healthcare is safe, effective, timely care, patient-centered care, efficient and equitable care.
Levels:
There are three levels of the healthcare system that is primary, secondary, and tertiary. Primary health care is the essential healthcare of all individuals. In Secondary health care, the patient is referred from primary healthcare to the specialized care. Tertiary is the third level health care system where the patient needed advanced techniques and care services.
