Describe a waiting line situation that you regularly face in your daily life. Explain how you would improve the structure of that system by applying waiting line analysis.
We often face issues with waiting lines in our day to day life. For example waiting lines in banks consume most of the time even when the work is so small and it gets over in an minute. We need to wait in long lines for our turn and sometimes these waiting lines are not organised . We can improve the structure of these waiting lines using waiting line analysis. If we consider our example , using waiting line analysis we first need to determine the capacity of the bank and the maximum number of customers that can be allowed at a time. We then need to make arrangements such that only a single person from a group stands in the queue so that the length of the queue can be reduced. We can then implement token system or first come first serve system so that everyone are treated in equal manner . We need to analyse the number of windows possible for the size of the bank and arrange for that number so that the customers can be distributed . This helps in reducing the wait time in lines and also the work gets done faster and in a simple manner.
