Diffeerentiate between mass and weight. and what are the units of mass and weight.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Mass of a body is defined as the amount of matter contained in body, the si unit of mass is kg. while weight is the force which attracts a bodyi.e W =mg.the si iunit of weight is kgm/s^2w

Mass is constant every where, while weight is varying from place to place

Mass is a scaler quantity while weight is a vector quantity.

Mass is measured with the help of beam balance while weight is measured by weighting machine.

Mass is independent of acceleration due to gravity while weight depends on acceleration due to gravity

Mass never be zero, while weight is zero at centre of earth, because acceleration due to gravity at cenre of earth is zero.

Mass is matter contatined in a body and weight is the force which attracts a body

Is Atomic Mass and Atomic Weight the same terms? Or is Atomic mass and Mass Number the same terms? On the MCAT Kaplan books it says that atomic mass and mass number are the same thing but online and other chemistry textbooks, atomic mass and atomic weight are the same thing. Can someone please clarify which two terms are the same thing or are they all different? I really need help to make sure I understand this for the MCAT.

If the mass of the charge is very small (mass = 2.9×10^-25kg) so that its weight (weight in Newtons = mass in kg × 9.8 m/s2) is negligible compared to the electric force, what is the magnitude of its acceleration? Recall Newton's 2nd Law. the magnitude of the electric force is 27.68×10^−17? Write your result in terms of 10^9 m/s2. For example, if the result is 1.234 ×10^9 m/s2, just enter 1.234 (keep 3 decimal places).
