In the selection decision what types of information can be used? Where does it come from? What characteristics are most useful?

Selection refers to an approach for choosing an individual from out
of the candidates' pool with the required qualification along with
the competence to fill the job within the organization.
Information used in selection decision
For the selection decision, the used information are skills,
attributes, qualification, knowledge, person skill of a candidate
is examined for deciding whether the candidate has all abilities
for performing his or her role and managing duties of the
position.
Sources of information
This information is collected from their application form,
interviews, and employment test. In the application form, they
mention all their data such as age, gender, marital status,
nationality, academic information including school, college as well
universities they attended, degree or diploma they have passed,
division of grade, year of passing, and their related
subjects.
In addition to this, from these applications or their submitted
resumes, their professional qualification, their employment history
such as job done by them, their position and duties in their
previous job is considered. Their medical history is also examined
for gathering the data about if any case any disability, serious
illness. Besides this, their hobbies, such as support activities
are also considered.
The information would be collected from the interview process,
where the interview panel interacts directly with the candidate and
observes their quality and personality skills and notes down or
marked. Besides this, the skill and information are also gathered
from the employment test tat consist of intelligence tests,
interest tests, aptitude tests, and personality tests.
Characteristics for selection decision
The potential of an applicant, abilities, experiences, and
educational background are the most important characteristics to
consider while making selection decisions.
