To what extent and in which manner (classical/operant) do you think you are conditioned by something in your daily life?
One of the most fascinating things about the learning theories is that they can be seen everywhere, happening almost all walks of life. It happens from a parent giving chocolates to the child for completing the homework or behaving well to people giving way to the siren. In classical conditioning People are conditioned in such a way that they do it almost unknowingly whereas in operant conditioning people do certain things may be to get some reward or to avoid punishment.
I used to be very nervous when I’m called in front of the classroom as everyone will be literally staring at me and all my teachers used to be very stern. It so happened during my high school that one of my teachers made me stand in front, stood nearby me, asked all the students to encourage me and I was able to do that. So, I have started associating a pleasant classroom environment to confidence building.
I used to be come home late. My parents told me that I should be on home but I wouldn’t. They told me if I come home late anymore, I would lose my pocket money. It happened with my studies as well. They told me that If I perform well, they would give me more money for going out.
