Reflect upon the saying "failing to plan is planning to fail" in regards to effective lesson planning. Explain how an unprepared teacher negatively affects a teacher’s instruction and his or her students.
Failing to plan is planning to fail is a saying that truly reflects the journey of a teacher in the true sense. This is because effective lesson planning is something that assists the work of a teacher. An unprepared teacher may not have enough inputs to share in the class and may even end up giving personal perspectives which may not be very beneficial as such. As teachers, it is the moral responsibility to work not only on the knowledge that the students possess, but also on the overall thinking skills. For instance the ability to think critically or reflect on issues or themes. This may not be possible if classes are unplanned and do not consist of a structure. In case of any issue being covered in a classroom session, it is essential that it is related to everyday concerns and rooted in reality. Therefore, having personal audits along wth information exchange is a prerequisite to effective classroom teaching. Therefore, it is often said that unprepared teachers may affect a teacher's institution and his or her students in a detrimental way.
