Assess the strengths and weaknesses of Libertarianism
Libertarianism is a political movement which holds liberty as its core values and it is widely seen in the developed, individualistic and capitalist countries. One of the most important advantages is that individuals are masters of their choices and activities and the government only acts as a moderator. Secondly, it provides equal opportunities to everyone to thrive in a competitive environment. This would mean that people with the best talents and skills would be able to progress. Thirdly, it encourages private businesses through privatization thus making all the facilities and services delivered in a more efficient way. One of the most important disadvantages is that it would create more discrimination in the society where people with more money would be able to advance. Secondly, it would lead to more deviant behaviours because individual liberty and rights would be held as the core value. Thirdly, the government wouldn’t be able to do justice to majority of the people in terms of providing essential services as they would be privatized.
