Expert Solution

  • Although there are some disadvantages with having a society with many different religions, there are also many advantages. Yes, in a society with a variety of religions there will be conflict and also disagreement because of differing views, but in my opinion the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
  • With a numerous amount of religions there would be more of a choice for people, there would be many different viewpoints and mindsets for people to associate themselves with.
  • Also, with a large amount of religions in society we have more knowledge. All religions have different theories on creation among others things and with a variety of opinions and viewpoints we as a society would have the opportunity to piece together the facts from each religion and have a good understanding of the world around us.
  • So yes there are both disadvantages and advantages associated with having different religions in a society but diversity and uniqueness is what makes society what it is.
  • Having different religions in our society brings cultural richness. Being exposed everyday to a diverse population allows one to become more tolerant towards people with different values and beliefs.
  • Mixed religions in a society bring people to be open-minded. However, in order for society to function well, one must live his religion privately without trying to convert others.
  • Of course, religions should not control our society because people are allowed to hold the beliefs they consider to be right. They should not be forced to behave a certain way for the sake of a religion they don’t believe in.
  • Therefore, having many religions in society is an advantage as long as it doesn’t interfere with anyone’s quality of life.
