Effect of physical training on urinary incontinence: a randomized parallel group trial in nursing home (2012)Vinsnes, Helbostad, Nyronning, Harkless, Granbo & Seim : my question is: is the support for the reliability and validity of measurement instruments described? explain yes, no or maybe. Thank you.
The two concepts of reliability and validity are important for measuring the bias. Here, the parallel forms of reliability are obtained by using various assessment tools such as same construct, knowledge -base, and skill on the group of individuals. Here, the subjects should meet the criteria for the study. The training program is adjusted based on the individual participants. There is no significant difference between the control group and intervention group.
For a test to be reliable, validity is necessary to measure the accuracy. Even though it is not supported it is always reliable. Here, the baseline data were adjusted according to the age, sex, and level of function. These significant predictors may give false results in the intervention group. The staff members vary with time( due to shifts) and lack of knowledge of Urinary incontinence problem. Withdrawl of participants from the middle of the study is another drawback. Overall, the physical training will be effective in the Urinary incontinence patients. Thus, the reliability and validity may support the study instruments.
