Question1: What are the Social & Cultural Influences on Personality?

Social influences on personality include the influences of parents, peers, temperament, a moral compass, a strong sense of self, and sometimes critical life experiences such as parental divorce. Social influences and personality development encompasses these and many other influences on the growth of the person. People are influenced by social norms and include these aspects in their personality to gain acceptance as members of society. Additionally, this enables group conformity & a sense of cohesion within a society.

For Example, Social Learning Theory proposed by Mr. Albert Bandura describes the role of social influences such as family, society ans surroundings on the personality development of an individual.

Culture refers to the shared values, beliefs and norms of a specific group of people. Culture, therefore, influences the manner we learn, live and behave. Because of this, many theorists believe that culture is an important shaper of our personality. Strength of personality traits varies across cultures.

For example, personality of people include some of the Big Five factors (conscientiousness, neuroticism, openness, and extroversion) depending upon their cultural beliefs and values.
