The solution for the problem is provided below, please
comment if any doubts:
Bribery changes since it has become a statutory crime,
since:
- Since the bribery has becomes a statutory crime many low level
or low cost briberies are almost eliminated. Since the bureaucrats
are aware about the consequences of the violation they will not
risk the life for small amounts. Thus the bribery at low level has
been reduced drastically and even eliminated from many areas. Also
the citizens are also aware about their rights and the services
they get from the state officials and other government agents. This
helped the elimination of low cost and low level briberies.
- The higher level and higher cost briberies are still there
intact without many effects, only the way in which the bribery
handled is changes. Now the bribery has changed from money to other
physical assets and also political influence. These other forms of
bribery are still exists even after the bribery is becomes a
statutory crime. The high level officials have the support the
political and government official which enables them to carry on
the bribery activity. Only the form in which they are implemented
is changed the actual burden of bribery and corruption on state and
the people has not reduced much.
