Law is everywhere and is pervasive in how it interacts in our
personal and business lives. Are we better or worse off
as a society for having such a close interaction with the law in
our daily lives both on a personal level and business level
or would we be better off if with a different system? Please
explain your answers.
It is indeed true that law is all pervasive in our personal and business lives. It is this pervasiveness that helps to maintain a semblance of law and order in our lives and provides necessary disincentive to people from cheating and carrying out illegal activities.
For example, if we want to sell our car and post the transaction, if we find out that we have been defrauded as the banker’s cheque provided by the buyer cannot be honoured by the bank, then we can go and file a case in the court of law and necessary compensation would be provided by the law. Also knowing this, there is only a very slim chance that any buyer would actually resort to such fraudulent practice. However if the law was not pervasive and we had been left on our own, then it would be very difficult to carry out any business or personal commercial transaction without fear and insecurity.
Hence from personal perspective, the pervasiveness of law is needed to protect interests of everyone and for the evolution of the society into a progressive and prosperous one.
