1. Identify the four major types of muscle contraction. Provide an example of each type in which you experience in your daily life. When exercising, do you find yourself doing more static or dynamic types of muscle contraction?
2. Discuss the differences between muscular strength (absolute and relative), power, and endurance. In your own experience, what types of activities, exercises, and/or sports require muscular strength, power, and endurance? Which is most important for you in your daily life?
3. Which of the factors that influence muscular contraction do you feel are the largest influencers in your opinion? Why?
1) Types of muscle contractions:
Examples of contractions in day to day life:
--->An example of an isometric contraction would be carrying an object in front of you. The weight of the object would be pulling downward, but your hands and arms would be opposing the motion with equal force going upwards. Since your arms are neither raising or lowering, your biceps will be isometrically contracting
---> Examples of isotonic exercise include squats, stair climbing, bicep curls and push-ups. Supports quality of life by building range of motion muscles that help with activities of daily living
--->Movements that employ eccentric contractions include walking down stairs, running downhill, lowering weights, and the downward motion of squats, push-ups or pull-ups.
--->An example is bending the elbow from straight to fully flexed, causing a concentric contraction of the Biceps Brachii. Concentric contractions are the most common type of and occur frequently in daily and sporting activities.
When exercising, we you find ourselves doing more dynamic types of muscle contraction necause we wont rest the muscle contreactions the continues contractions on musclesa are performed So we will having dynamic type of muscle contraction
2)Absolute strength is the maximum amount of force exerted, regardless of muscle or body size. Greater amounts of absolute strength favor those with higher body weight usage and in general, larger individuals. Greater absolute strength will improve relative strength capabilities.
Muscular strength is the ability to exert maximal force in one single contraction, such as lifting a weight that you could lift only once before needing a short break. Muscular power refers to a great force production over a short period of time, such as in fast leg kicks and explosive jumping. Muscular endurance is when less force is sustained over a longer period of time such as in gallops, skips, pliés, and swings. Dancers often confuse endurance with strength, so it is sometimes useful to think of endurance as continuous and strength as maximal.Muscular endurance is most important for you in your daily life.
3) Muscular endurance is the factors that influence muscular contraction I feel are the largest influencers in my opinion because we can sustain with the minimal power and strength as we have now but we cant survive without endurance because it will be needed in our day to day life are mostly related to that constractions
