A 20-year-old male complains of experiencing intermittent headaches. The headaches diffuse all over the head, but the greatest intensity and pressure occurs above the eyes and spreads through the nose, cheekbones, and jaw.
Provide evidence from the literature to support diagnostic tests that would be appropriate for each case. List five different possible conditions for the patient's differential diagnosis, and justify why you selected each.
To support diagnistic test :
Sinus headache and tension headache is believed in such case. Sinus headache: when sinus become inflamed, usually as a result of alergic reaction, the inflammation may cause localised pain.
The may include for sinus headache are .x ray indicates that having any sinus issue, it can be possible by using CT scan and MRI.
Electroencephalogram is also an other option for the further diagnosis.
In case of tension headache: tension headache are due to tight muscle in your shoulder, neck and scalp and jaw. CT scan , MRI, blood chemistry spinal tap and eye pressure to rule out any glaucoma condition. Is such an option for diagnosis.
As differential diagnosis of such headache :
Trigeminal cephalgia, Cluster headache , chronic daily headache Hypertension, Orthostatic chronic daily headache.
Trigeminal nerve affection leads to trigeminal cephalgia bacause of nerve connection, neck and cephalic region.
Chronic daily headache due to sinusitis and tension. Pain may originate any cephalic region but in low standard.. slowly become severe.
Hypertension originate because of pressure. May stresses to heart , eyes and other veins then affects blood circulation as usual.
Orthostatic chronic daily headache suggest a low CSF pressure headache. Generally found in CSF leak, previous lumber puncture.
