CNT Books has expanded considerably since you got the network up and running three years ago. It now occupies an entire floor in the building, and its LAN has grown to include several servers and more than 60 workstations. CNT Books has recently purchased another book company and needs more space and computers. Expansion plans include leasing another floor four stories above the current offices in the same building and adding 35 workstations and at least one more server immediately, with additional equipment purchases expected. What type of network is called for—LAN, WAN, MAN, or internetwork? What additional devices might be needed to ensure efficient network communication?
According to the situation given above the CNT, books have expanded their network, as now it occupies a complete floor in the building and it has to include 60 more workstations The expansion plan of CNT book is leasing another floor four stories above the current office and add there 35 more workstations with a server immediately. So, as the two offices are in the same building and network at one office is known as LAN( Local area network) and connecting two LAN between two offices is an internetwork.
An internetwork is defined as a network within the same premises, it is basically used to connect two or more LAN at a time.
The additional devices required for good communication is :
1. Switches
2. Routers
3. Ethernet Cables
Here the switches are used to connect multiple devices in the same premises/building, a router allows various devices to connect wirelessly to the internet, the ethernet cables are used to connect the router to the main WiFi modem, it increases the range of the modem so the ethernet cables provide good connectivity to the network.
So, switches, router, and ethernet cables are used for efficient network communication.
