What are some of the darker sides (in other words, costs) associated with globalization? How would you use this knowledge as a global leader?
Some of the darker side of globalization include governmwnt corruption and criminal action that people do not know about. Another dark side of globalization is sweatshops to save on labor costs. Sweatshops are factories that do not pay the workers acceptable living wages to survive off of, and have terrible safety conditions and very long miserable hours. Sweatshops also take advantage of child labor as well, which companies take advantage of to save a few dollars and lower the cost of producing the products they sell. Pollution is another major dark cost that most people do not realize stems from globalization. The factories create pollution and with globalization creating more factories in countries with little to no emissions and pollution laws, the earth overall can be affected with pollution and smog. This can also affect the citizens of the countries being outsourced to, by the way of health problems from smog. This in turn proves that health is a dark cost of globalization. Dumping toxic chemicals and garbage into oceans can kill and harm animals and ecosystems for example.
Business leaders can make sure that the benefits of outsourcing jobs to foreign countries outweigh the job losses in developed countries by giving back to the domestic economy as well as providing the consumers in their home country with lower prices of products and services as well as other benefits since the businesses save a lot of money ny outsourcing jobs. They can also create more jobs at home by opening new departments and opening new factories at home as well as foreign countries so it stays balanced
